Hi Every one. This is brian Mala with all people post. So Captain marvel is out and I just got done watching it.
We follow the story of Carol Danvers set in the 1990s as she journeys to Earth to find a solution between a war of two alien races. From here she’ll come in contact with Nick Fury agent Colson and imprint herself in this Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now I can’t get into the massive details about the movie cause that would take to long, but over all Captain Marvel was good and definitely above average
It wasn’t anything that was like Oh my God I’ve never seen this before. As a matter of fact there are a lot of things in this movie that you probably have seen before. You know in some way shape or form.
So many people just had to say a lot about the fact that we have a female lead. So if you if you’re one of those people who prefer to see a muscle bond manly super hero beating the crap out the bad guys, then this movie might turn you down. But I can assure you this movie dosent feel like that at all. I would argue this till the end, and say that there were a few scenes that were even better than wonder women
This movie is not something that’s going to really make people upset. It’s it’s literally a space sci fi action adventure. It was fun and also has some funny moments in it as well. bottom line is that It’s a Marvel movie. It’s really that.
If you kind of want a comparison I would compare it to Dr. Strange or Ant Man. That’s kind of like the level I would say it’s around because it doesn’t do anything major. You know it’s not like civil war , it’s not Infinity War obviously !! it’s a contained story about Carol Danvers. And you know I think people at the very least will be like it was cool.
From day 1 I was super excited for the character of Captain Marvel she is set to be an important part and is sort of working as the Superman for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brie Larson in general looks really hot as Captain Marvel and I think she has a lot of charisma a lot of charm in the movie. Definitely want to see a lot more of her. I like what she brought to the table, and as I pointed out before – I took her serious as a hero. And I also found her very funny in the more comedic parts of the movie. To me what shines with her the most is the relationship she has with Nick Fury in this movie I love how after several movies and Samuel Jackson still has great roles to play in this movie that he’s no longer just a side character that has five or 10 minutes in a movie. To me those are really the highlights of the movie when Carol and Nick Fury were in scenes together. When it comes down to the scrolls I love them in the movie. The shapeshifting effect I think is really well done in this movie as well.
Now what I did not like about the movie is the way they handled the origin story. Typically now with all these superhero movies we have they try to mix it up, But You can’t just have the same beginning middle and end of a linear origin story because it’s starting to get really boring now.
They try to do it a little differently by telling her back story while still trying to tell the main present story at the same time. And I felt really jumbled up and I feel that it could mess the movie up a little. Obviously I want to know where she comes from and how she got her powers by did feel they overdid it that I got the general idea of where she came from and what was happening very early into the movie and they still have those flashbacks throughout the movie and try to give you all these revelations that aren’t really all that surprising
Keep in mind that this movie takes place in the 90s before a lot of the Marvel movies. The movie explains things that fans don’t really care for, for instance in the Han Solo movie they explained how he got his name & how he got his jacket. Avoiding things like that can help to cut short the movie and bring more meaning to the movie.
One more negative is that a lot of her powers are very plasma based or energy based and looks like she’s a super Saint towards that final fight. It got very CGI and blurry where I didn’t understand what I was looking at.
It’s pretty well done and I know some people will be really upset and annoyed with the empowering feminist side of this movie, but I felt it was subtle enough and they did a good job where it wasn’t too in your face that “this is a female superhero movie”. On the other hand anyone who wants a female superhero movie out there – will feel happy with this movie.
To me this was a solid entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe I don’t think this is a misstep. I think there’s a lot of potential to grow here and see where this goes especially with the way the movie ended and there are two post credit scenes ( I will not spoil it for you) ;). I will say the first one pretty important last one you can kind of skip and read about it online.
All right. So for Captain Marvel I’m gonna give action 4 stars. The hand-to-hand combat stuff is good but it gets a little blurry and not to mention again, the full plasma towards the end really gets your head spinning for a bit.
So once again..This is a marvel movie. They can be funny and know how to keep you entertained
For Drama in the film, I’m going to give it three stars only – because even though it was kind of clunky the way they were trying to throw the origin story with the main story was a little confusing, but it was still good enough that it kept me interested throughout the whole movie.
If you have to really compare it, then The stuff that is revealed in the movie was kind of the stuff you would see coming in any super hero movie.
For a Casual movie: I would give it a A+.
For Cinematic & Special Effects: A-
For New Concept In movies: C+
For Storyline: B+
Overall: 3.5 Stars
